Congratulations Wantagh Warriors Boys XC Team
2007 Nassau County Champs

On Saturday, November 3rd 2007 at 2:15pm the Wantagh Cross County Varsity Boys were determined to win the Nassau County Championship for the 2nd consecutive year. At the start of the race, the 183 boys took off across the polo fields of Bethpage State Park as Costal Storm Noel was offshore trying to hold them back. Wantagh's top runner Quimes DelaCruz was leading the race as the boys entered the woods with the others Wantagh boys following close behind.

All we could do as spectators was wait and see as the teams competed for the Championship. The runners began to exit the woods and make the long journey around the polo fields to the finish line. David Frankel of Syosset and Kevon Carter of Valley Stream Central High School raced Neck and Neck around to the Finish. David Frankel won with a personnel best Sub 16 time of 15:59 and Kevon Carter was right behind for 2nd with a time of 16:02.

As Quimes DelaCruz came around to the last leg of the race he was in 5th place and was sprinting to move up. Andrew Coelho and Tom Clark gave their usual strong performances as they have all season. Luke Milano and Chris Lewis ran their personal best times to seal the win for Wantagh. Nick Fillipazzo and John Greisheimer both gave it their all and helped keep the Warriors in contention all season. All of the Wantagh High School Varsity Boys and Girls Cross Country Runners should be congratulated for great day at Bethpage. Special thanks to Ethan Koreff for being a great manager for the day.

Thank you Coach Hedgecock for the inspiration you instill in our kids and for the great experience we like to call Wantagh Cross Country.

Please congratulate Coach Bill Hedgecock and the Wantagh Cross Country Varsity Boys as they will be traveling upstate to Norwood New York to compete for the New York State Championship on November 10th 2007. We will post photos and videos of the event as they become available.
